Inflammation and Joint Pain:
Does Fish Oil Help?

Inflammation and joint pain can be helped by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), but as you probably know, they can have adverse effects.

Many researchers believe omega-3 EPA and DHA essential fatty acids may serve as an effective natural alternative for reducing the inflammation that causes joint pain.

Until recently, fish oil supplements were the key source of sufficient omega 3. But even fish oil has its risks. You probably also know that many fish are contaminated with environmental toxins that can be hazardous to your health. Quality fish oils are processed to eliminate these toxins but at a loss of nutritional value. Another problem with most fish oils is too much omega-6 fatty acid. Most American diets are already over-saturated with omega-6 from meats, vegetable oils and fast foods. Omega 6 causes inflammation, so what you want in a marine oil is a high ratio of inflammation-fighting omega 3 and the lowest amount of omega-6 possible. That's rare as fish oils go. Krill oil is the solution.

Why Krill Oil is More Effective than Fish Oil

It's the combination of phospholipids, a very high ratio of omega-3 to omega-6, and esterified astaxanthin found only in the kill, a tiny marine crustacean.

  • Genuine Neptune Krill Oil (look for the NKO™ trademark on any label) delivers the very high anti-inflammatory ratio of 15 parts omega 3 to 1 part omega 6. This dominance of omega 3 is critical to fighting joint disease and reducing inflammation and pain.
  • Phospholipids give you over 30% more omega 3 nutrition than available from fish oil. Your cells will readily absorb 95-98% of krill oil (vs. about 65% fish oil) because only the krill's omega 3 fatty acids are bonded to phospholipids, the very building blocks of human cells.
  • Astaxanthin keeps krill oil fresh without preservatives and packs a whopping 48% more antioxidant power. Krill oil is the only animal source of esterified astaxanthin, an ultra-potent antioxidant that protects your cells from free radical damage and teams with phospholipids as a natural anti-inflammatory agent.1
  • And yes it's safe. Krill are at the bottom of the food chain, meaning they don't eat fish and are totally free of the dangerous contaminants found in fish. Moreover, NKO™ is made exclusively of the premium Eauphausia superba species from the pristine Antarctic Ocean.

Why Neptune Krill Oil May Be the Leading Natural Alternative to NSAIDs1

As inflammation is closely linked to atherosclerosis and joint disease, a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study 2 was conducted to evaluate the effect of NKO™ on chronic inflammation. Pain, stiffness and functional impairment were significantly reduced. Click here for a quick summary of the exciting results.
